Cleaning reusable PP corrugated boxes
A reusable package needs a documented cleaning and inspection method that fits the soil, environment, construction and end use.

Define the cleanliness objective
Visual cleanliness, removal of process residue, allergen control, bioburden reduction and regulated sanitation are different objectives. State what the process must achieve and who approves it.

Understand the finished construction
Review folds, flutes, welded or fastened joints, handles, labels, inserts and damaged edges. Areas that retain liquid or soil may require a different structure or cleaning approach.

Select chemistry and temperature carefully
Compatibility depends on detergent, concentration, contact time, water temperature and mechanical action. Test the complete package, print and labels rather than assuming compatibility from polypropylene alone.

Control the process
Define pre-rinse, wash, rinse, drying and storage steps as applicable. Prevent cross-contamination between dirty and clean areas and ensure the package is dry before stacking or returning to service.

Inspect after cleaning
Check deformation, cracks, delamination, fasteners, sharp edges, print legibility, divider condition and any application-specific functional requirement such as ESD performance.

Set retirement criteria
Remove packages that no longer meet structural, cleanliness, identification or functional requirements. Record cycle count or service history when the risk and economics justify traceability.
